Zena Moses started her musical journey in April 2006 and has been holding court on Frenchmen Street ever since. Her versatility runs from soulful ballads that swoon a room to funky dance music that packs it — 'Zena shows New Orleans' natural rawness,' as WWOZ puts it, and she has no problem drawing a crowd with her emotions.
Before and alongside leading Rue Fiya, she sang with Gene's Music Machine, Soul Project, Charmaine Neville and Friends, Brassaholics, Big Sam's Funky Nation, Gravity A, the Original Pinettes Brass Band, and Corey Henry's Funktet. She has played Jazz Fest in 2013, 2017, 2019, and 2022, and French Quarter Fest in 2017, 2019, and 2022, plus regular Frenchmen Street rooms — Blue Nile, The Maison, d.b.a., Tipitina's — and a current weekly stand at Cafe Negril (606 Frenchmen Street).
The Rue Fiya Allstars draw from 40-plus musicians, giving audiences a raw, rare, and engaging show — from blues and jazz to rock and reggae — and her reach extends to benefit stages like the Children of Haiti concerts and WWOZ pledge drives.
One of New Orleans' most exciting R&B, Funk, & Reggae collectives
