One Shot Brass Band was founded in the fall of 2012, when a group of college students — all born and raised in New Orleans — began their undergraduate journeys at Southern University A&M College. As members of the school’s famous Human Jukebox Marching Band, they didn’t have time for typical jobs, so they organized themselves as a brass band to entertain and keep the New Orleanian musical culture alive while earning a little money on the side. The group still performs together today.
Their songbook runs the full brass band spectrum: traditional New Orleanian brass band standards alongside the more contemporary tunes audiences love, and the band doubles as a stage band for receptions and special occasions. From cocktail hours to black-tie affairs, weddings to birthdays, they present exactly what the event needs — whether that’s closing out the night or getting the party started the proper way.
Catch them where brass bands belong: at local festivals, leading second lines through the streets, and in regular residencies at clubs like the re-opened Dew Drop Inn on LaSalle Street, the historic Black music landmark. One Shot brings its best shot every time.
