The Knockaz Brass Band came together in early 2014 — eight young, professionally trained musicians from New Orleans, built for high-energy brass with serious chops. Their sets run from traditional second-line arrangements and classic brass band tunes to go-go funk and pop covers, and they have made a business of bringing that energy to weddings, festivals, and corporate events as well as club and festival stages.
The band is Black-owned and independent, booking directly through its own site — a working band built on the second-line tradition, counting the Dirty Dozen and Rebirth among its influences. In September 2023 they played a Jazz Foundation of America / New Orleans Jazz Museum livestream, and they turned up on the Jazz Fest 2026 parade listings.
The Knockaz play the tradition straight and play it well — second lines, weddings, funerals, and everything the city's street music asks of a band. Their own site carries the full booking details.
