Born and raised in New Orleans, DJ Rakimbeau is an open-format DJ — house, old-school R&B, and forgotten gems — who plays the city regularly alongside a national circuit.

Biography
Born and raised in New Orleans, Rakim Ambeau — DJ Rakimbeau — moved to New York City in 2015, and that move birthed her DJ career. An open-format DJ, she reads the room across house, old-school R&B, and forgotten gems, and has written about proving herself as a woman in a male-dominated field.
She was a resident sound architect for the New Orleans African American Museum's Saturday family events in 2024 and still plays New Orleans regularly, including Groove Theory and Club Euphoria dates at The Rabbit Hole in 2025 and 2026. She also curates events beyond her own sets.
