Justin Smith, known professionally as DJ Polo504, is a New Orleans DJ whose career reached a formal milestone in July 2024, when he became one of the inaugural inductees of the New Orleans DJ Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is the brainchild of local entrepreneur Kimberly Dilosa, conceived as part of a series of community projects benefiting the city, with a mission centered on recognizing local DJs as culture bearers — a term historically applied to brass bands, Mardi Gras Indians, and jazz musicians, but rarely to the DJs who play just as central a role in the city's musical life.
Smith was inducted alongside a first class that included Leo "Slick" Coakley and Jerome "DJ Jubilee" Temple, the pioneering bounce artist known as the King of Bounce. The induction took place at a New Orleans City Council meeting, where Smith and Dilosa were presented with an official proclamation, and the Hall of Fame has since partnered with the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation on a related initiative supporting the mental health of the city's culture bearers.
Beyond the Hall of Fame recognition, DJ Polo504 remains an active performer on the New Orleans festival circuit, appearing regularly at French Quarter Fest alongside brass bands, traditional jazz acts, and fellow DJs across multiple years' lineups.
