The Broadside opened in 2015 on North Broad Street, bringing a dedicated rock and indie music venue to Mid-City. New Orleans has always had a strong rock underground, and The Broadside gave it a proper home — a room with good sound, a real stage, and a booking philosophy that embraces the full range of guitar-driven music.
The venue occupies a building with real character — exposed brick, a large main room, and an outdoor space that becomes its own stage in good weather. Its location on Broad Street puts it in the heart of a neighborhood undergoing creative renewal, and The Broadside has been part of that story.
The club books a mix of local rock and punk acts alongside carefully selected touring bands, giving New Orleans audiences access to acts that might otherwise skip the city. It has developed a reputation as a venue where touring bands are treated well and where local acts get real production support.
The Broadside represents the diversity of New Orleans music beyond the jazz and brass band traditions — a reminder that the city has always had a rock underground as vibrant as any in America, and that it deserves proper venues to call its own.
