Muévelo means 'move it!' in Spanish, which is exactly what happens on the dance floor when this talented band takes the stage. What started as a one-off tribute to Celia Cruz instantly took hold, and Muévelo now reigns as one of New Orleans' favorite Latin dance bands.
Lead singer Margie Perez and Grammy-winning saxophonist Brent Rose lead the band — and the audience — on a tropical tour of Cuba and beyond. The big band is a festival favorite; listen for Rose's rhythm-driven sax solos on crowd-pleasers like 'Quimbara.'
Their Live at Jazzfest 2017 set was released on CD by Munck Music, and the band keeps a busy calendar of festivals and community events, from the Creole Tomato Festival to the Mayor's Office of Cultural Economy's HispaNola Live! series.
