Crescent City Brewhouse occupies a genuinely historic address at 527 Decatur Street, on property included in the earliest known city plan of New Orleans, signed in 1722. Records show a two-story, fourteen-room house stood on the site by the mid-1700s, before the Great Fire of 1794 burned it to the ground; the rebuilt property went on to house families of distinction before being used for fur processing by 1916.
In 1991, the Crescent City Brewhouse opened on the site, becoming Louisiana's first brewpub and the first brewery in the area in more than 72 years — a renovation that later earned the Vieux Carré City Council Award for maintaining the historic property's integrity. Today, it remains the only microbrewery in the French Quarter, brewing year-round house beers alongside seasonal releases.
