Young Pinstripe Brass Band is an energetic New Orleans brass band that incorporates both classic and contemporary sounds — New Orleans jazz, funk, soul, rock, and hip-hop — into its repertoire. The band is led by Herbert McCarver IV, a fourth-generation musician carrying forward a family tradition of New Orleans brass band culture.
The Young Pinstripes are regular fixtures at second lines, weddings, and festivals around New Orleans, and have built a reputation as one of the city's most dependable and entertaining event bands. Wedding clients consistently praise the band's professionalism, punctuality, and ability to turn a formal event into a genuine New Orleans celebration, leading processions down streets like Royal and Bourbon with the full spirit of a traditional second line.
Beyond live performances, Young Pinstripe Brass Band has appeared on screen in the television series NCIS: New Orleans and the 2013 film Elle, and released a live album, Live At JazzFest 2016, recorded at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, along with the studio release Y.P.S. The band continues to perform regularly throughout the city, bringing energetic, crowd-pleasing New Orleans brass to audiences of all kinds.
