Sporty's Brass Band is based in New Orleans and led by trombonist Maurice "Sporty" Craig, a one-time member of the Stooges Brass Band. Assembling a team of nine talented instrumentalists, Craig built Sporty's Brass Band into a group that has quickly earned a reputation as a premiere act to see for heart-pounding energy and uncontrollable dancing.
The band has traversed the full spectrum of New Orleans occasions, performing at joyous weddings and somber jazz funerals alike, and has become a fixture at beloved festivals including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, French Quarter Fest, Brass Fest, and Mardi Gras. Their reach has extended well beyond New Orleans, with Sporty's Brass Band touring nationally and earning media attention including a feature in the New York Post praising the band's talent and dedication.
Closer to home, Sporty's Brass Band can regularly be found performing at the Hi-Ho Lounge and the Brass Hall New Orleans on Decatur Street, continuing to build their reputation as one of the city's most exciting contemporary brass acts.
