A Family Tribe

The Wild Mohicans Indian Tribe is a family Mardi Gras Indian tribe founded in New Orleans in 1996 by Big Chief Kentrell Watson and Big Queen Zenda Watson, who made their Fat Tuesday debut that same year. Eight to nine members strong, the tribe carries the full range of positions — War Chief, Chief Scout, Second Chief, Big Chief, and the queens — in hand-beaded suits built from intricate patchwork beadwork.

The Mohicans perform at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and have toured internationally through Europe and Central America, carrying New Orleans Mardi Gras Indian culture wherever they go. For bookings, the tribe is reachable through their FestivalNet page.
