The Desert Nudes are a New Orleans trio: J. P. Carmody on guitar and vocals, David Pomerleau on bass and vocals, and André Bohren on guitar, lap steel, drums, and vocals. Two of the three — Pomerleau and Bohren — come straight out of the Johnny Sketch & the Dirty Notes orbit, while Carmody brings his own years on the local scene with South Jones and Colin Davis & Night People. Together they cover cowboy songs, classic country, and roots rock with impeccable three-part vocal harmonies and a sly humor that makes every show feel like a good time among friends.
They started singing cowboy songs together during the pandemic, out in the western desert, and kept it going after packed rooms told them they were onto something. The band released its debut record in 2024, Keep A-Movin’, Dan: Songs of Hydration, Vigor, Horses, and Wide Open Spaces — a loving run through western classics like “Tumbling Tumbleweeds” and “Cool Water” — and a follow-up album is reportedly in the works.
Live, the “Dans” have played the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Bayou Boogaloo, run regular Thursday nights at Seither’s Seafood, and become Chickie Wah Wah favorites — they kicked off the club’s 2026 Fest-o-Matic series. And the Nudes reach well beyond their own band: Pomerleau and Bohren also play in The Walrus, the New Orleans Beatles band, with Carmody holding down the cowboy fort.
