Stanton Moore grew up in New Orleans in the 1970s and 1980s, coming of age surrounded by the city's extraordinary percussion tradition — second-line, funk, jazz, and R&B all flowing into his developing musical consciousness. He studied formally but always remained rooted in the feel and groove that define New Orleans drumming.
As a founding member of Galactic, Moore has been part of one of the most successful New Orleans bands of the contemporary era, helping to define what post-Meters New Orleans funk sounds like. His drumming is the glue that holds the band together — powerful, swinging, and endlessly creative within the groove.
