Biography
Neonautica is the New Orleans duo of Megan Ihnen and Alan Theisen — a classically trained opera singer and a conservatory saxophonist and composer who are partners onstage and off. They started about nine years ago as the contemporary classical voice-and-sax duo MIATp, performing works by modern composers across the country, then flipped to EDM-first songwriting after attending GRiZ's Space Camp in late 2021.
Their hour-long live sets mix DJing with live vocals, saxophone, keys, dancing, and theatrical storytelling, in a sound they place somewhere between EDM, orchestral music, funk, and cinematic pop. They run the annual Christmas charity rave NOËLNAUTICA benefiting Koats4Kids, keep a packed 2026 calendar from the Howlin' Wolf to Bayou Boogaloo, and tour a 60-minute two-person opera, Black Meridian, about love and black holes.
