Louis Michot is a fiddler, songwriter, and lead vocalist from Louisiana. In 1999 he co-founded the Lost Bayou Ramblers with his brother Andre Michot, and the band has spent more than two decades carrying Cajun music forward — performing predominantly in Cajun French and pushing the tradition into swamp pop, psychedelia, and beyond.
The Ramblers' album Kalenda won the Grammy for Best Regional Roots Music Album, and Michot's fiddle and vocal work were featured in the score of the film Beasts of the Southern Wild.
His first solo album, Rêve du Troubadour (2023), draws on Louisiana French musical traditions alongside hip-hop and electronica — built from pandemic-era sessions recorded in a houseboat studio with microphones pointed at the prairie outside. The record stretches the vocabulary of Louisiana French song into gardening, seasons, and walks of life that rarely make it into a tune.
