LostBayou Ramblers

Lafayette-based Lost Bayou Ramblers have spent two decades expanding the boundaries of Cajun music without losing its essential spirit — incorporating elements of psychedelia, noise rock, and experimental music into a sound that remains unmistakably rooted in the swamps and prairies of south Louisiana.

Lost Bayou Ramblers

Founded by brothers Louis and André Michot, the Lost Bayou Ramblers came up playing traditional Cajun music before gradually opening the form to outside influences, creating recordings that can sound like nothing else — raw accordion and fiddle alongside distorted guitars and experimental electronics, all delivered with the communal energy of a Cajun dance. Their album Mammoth Waltz won a Grammy for Best Regional Roots Music Album in 2014, introducing them to a national audience. Their subsequent recordings have continued to push the tradition forward while honoring its roots, making them one of the most important bands in contemporary Louisiana music.
