Grammy-winning drummer Jeffrey “Jellybean” Alexander was the original drummer for Jon Cleary's Absolute Monster Gentlemen — and later the longtime drummer for Papa Grows Funk.

Biography
Alexander played drums and sang on the Absolute Monster Gentlemen's earliest records, including Moonburn (1999) and the band's 2002 Basin Street Records debut, where Discogs credits him on drums and vocals. Around 2005 he joined Papa Grows Funk, replacing Russell Batiste Jr., and held the drum chair through the band's 2013 hiatus.
Studio Express describes him as a Grammy-winning drummer of impeccable taste, a well-respected peer and mentor, a fixture at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and a touring musician with dates across Japan, Brazil, and Europe. He has performed and recorded with George Porter Jr., Jon Cleary, Marva Wright, Snooks Eaglin, and Zachary Richard, and co-founded The Frontline Corporation and Studio Express, where he works as a producer and mentor.
