Joshua 'Jams' Marotta was raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, and is a New Orleans-based drummer focusing on traditional New Orleans jazz and brass band music. He says he is forever grateful to the city, its people and culture, and the musicians here who have guided and influenced him.
His resume stretches well beyond the Crescent City: he has performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Ascona Jazz Festival, the Kennedy Center, the Blue Note, Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. His work has appeared in Vogue, The New York Times, and Vanity Fair, as well as in film, commercials, off-Broadway theater, and on more than twenty albums.
Between those marquee stages, Marotta keeps his sticks busy in the city he calls home, playing the rooms he loves back in New Orleans alongside the musicians who shaped his sound.
