Rock Noire's River Queen

Grace Gibson is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer based in New Orleans. Raised in the acting world — her mother is actress Lynn Whitfield and her late father, Brain Gibson, directed The Josephine Baker Story — she set acting aside to build her own path in music, teaching herself guitar, songwriting, arranging, and production.

Her music channels Delta blues, modern soul, and the power of women rock pioneers. Her debut single, 'Steampunk Blues' (c. 2021), was self-produced and self-written, and leads toward her planned four-part debut project, River Queen.

Gibson founded Rock Noire to celebrate Black women rockers, performs on electric guitar and tambourine, and has played stages from Jazz Fest after-dark shows to Le Petit Theatre, where she appeared in The House That Will Not Stand.
