Darius Harrison, known professionally as Deezle, was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, and has worked in music since 1989 as a producer, rapper, and singer. His breakthrough came co-producing Lil Wayne's 2008 single "Lollipop" alongside Jim Jonsin — a track that spent five weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned Deezle a Grammy Award. He went on to produce or co-produce six tracks on Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III, the album that spent three weeks atop the Billboard 200 in 2008 and has since been certified octuple platinum by the RIAA.
From that foundation, Deezle's credits expanded significantly across the music industry. He co-authored Drake's hit "In My Feelings," engineered Chris Brown's singles "Gimme That" and "Graffiti," and shared a co-producing credit with Kanye West on "Let the Beat Build." He has also made musical contributions alongside fellow New Orleans musician Donald Harrison Jr. to film scores, including Academy Award–winning director Jonathan Demme's Right to Return and Rachel Getting Married. Across his career, Deezle has sold more than seventy-five million records, working comfortably across rap, hip-hop, R&B, pop, gospel, pop punk, and classical music.
In 2025, Harrison filed a federal lawsuit against Universal Music Group, seeking more than $3 million in producer royalties he alleged had gone unpaid for over a decade on Tha Carter III and other Cash Money Records material; the suit was settled that September on undisclosed terms. He continues to record and perform, appearing with the Louis Armstrong Jazz Camp Allstar Alumni Band at the 2024 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and is currently building his own production company, Drum Major Music.
