The Babineaux Sisters Band has been a dominating force in Cajun music for over a decade. At the helm are the dynamic sisters Gracie and Julie Babineaux — Gracie commands the stage as lead vocalist, accordionist, and fiddler, while Julie holds down the rhythm on bass and contributes backup vocals — joined by Maci Lopez on guitar and percussion. Raised on the Louisiana Gulf Coast near Lafayette, they learned an antique Cajun French vernacular from their grandfather and write, compose, and perform in Louisiana French.
They released their first album while still in their early teens and have kept going ever since. Their EP Quoi Ça Dit, written in the old vernacular as an act of preservation, caught ears early — including OffBeat's — and they've since become four-time recording artists, with the EP One of Those released by Wide Open Records in Nashville and their latest album Sans Souliers. In 2025 they joined NPR's World Cafe for the Acadiana Music Showcase, recorded with KRVS in Lafayette.
Their performances have graced Festival International, the French Quarter Festival, Festivals Acadiens et Créoles, the Mudbug Festival, the Red River Arts Festival, Congrès Mondial 2024, the Carrefour Mondial de l'Accordéon, the Pensacola Crawfish Festival, and Festival du Voyageur in Winnipeg — and back home, the 2026 Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival at the Jazz & Heritage Center.
