Audrey LeCrone grew up in a musical family in rural Kansas and earned an acting degree from Oklahoma City University before moving to New Orleans to work as an actor and dialect coach. The city's musical culture pulled her in another direction, and she found her best role yet as a vocalist.
Her repertoire draws on jazz and blues from the 1920s to the 1950s — what WWOZ calls the tunes 'drenched in naughtiness,' the numbers that most likely got your grandparents in trouble. With her band The CrawZaddies, she keeps that provocative, speakeasy spirit alive in today's live music. The current lineup has Jordan Bush on piano, Belinda Moody on bass, Dorian Roberts on saxophone, Cam Clark on trumpet, and Kolja Gjoni on drums.
The band has performed as part of the Jazz Foundation of America's weekly Live From New Orleans series at the New Orleans Jazz Museum, and LeCrone's debut album, 'The Uptown Divorcee,' is out now. She is available for booking as a New Orleans-style act and travels up to 200 miles from the city.
