Carrollton's Gospel Powerhouse

Tyronne Foster & the Arc Singers are Jazz Fest regulars with deep roots in the Carrollton neighborhood. The group started in 1987 when Foster began working with the St. Joan of Arc Youth and Young Adult Choir; in 1992 they opened their ranks to singers from all denominations, becoming the Arc Singers. Foster serves as Minister of Music at St. Joan of Arc, and the ensemble pairs a rockin' rhythm section with original stage choreography for performances that are as exciting to watch as they are to hear.

They have brought their praise music to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival's Gospel Tent for years — appearing on the 2012, 2020, and 2026 lineups — and to the Essence Music Festival's gospel programming. Their peers have taken notice: OffBeat's Best of the Beat Awards nominated them for Best Gospel Artist in 2013, and they hold a primary-artist credit on Essence Music Festival, Vol. 5: The Gospel Collection (2011).

A large youth gospel ensemble with a joyful, high-energy sound, the Arc Singers carry on the New Orleans church-gospel tradition while opening their doors — and their stage — to singers from every denomination.
