Younger brother of Tab Benoit, Tyron started playing out in Colorado, came home to New Orleans and put his own band on the map. A U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran of Operation Desert Storm and a former working actor, he released his debut album Waitin' on Friday in 2022.
OffBeat called the debut swamp rock “hard-driving, arena-ready rock that keeps the Louisiana elements up front and the accordion high in the mix,” built with a first-class studio band including guitarist Shane Theriot and keyboardist David Torkanowsky. The album opens with an accordion-driven take on the Cure's “Just Like Heaven.”
His second album, Mid-City (2025), mixes country, rock, blues and folk with Louisiana bayou seasoning — Americana Highways singled out “Louisiana Time” and “Bogue Chitto River Blues” for their zydeco and Cajun touches. Selected stages include Jazz & Heritage, French Quarter Fest and Telluride Blues & Brews; the band has toured with Tab Benoit and Samantha Fish.
