Tiffany Ann Pollack was born and raised in the New Orleans area, growing up north of the city in Slidell on Bayou Bonfouca. Adopted as an infant and never formally trained, she spent her childhood at her parents' organ and a battered piano, writing songs by ear and singing loudly. Her first professional break came when neighbor Russell Batiste invited her to sing backup with Russell Batiste & Friends, which led to her own band, Beaucoup Crasseux, and singing work with Ph Fred's Round Pegs, the Consortium of Genius, and the Dapper Dandies. Beaucoup Crasseux eventually fizzled and Pollack left music for mortuary school, marriage, and raising three children.
At 25 she was reunited with her biological family and the musical puzzle snapped into place — her mother plays bass and sings in a jazz band, her aunt sings in a jazz band and is the mother of blues guitarist Eric Johanson, and her grandfather owned a piano store and played clarinet. After the birth of her third child she left the mortuary business to pursue music full time, leaning into jazz and forming Tiffany Pollack & Co.
A family reunion gig with her cousin Eric Johanson led to a deal with Nola Blue Records. Their 2019 duo album Blues in My Blood won Best Blues/Rock Album and Best Female Vocalist at the Global Music Awards, Best Blues Song at the Independent Music Awards, and Best Story Song at the American Songwriting Competition. Her 2021 solo debut Bayou Liberty, produced by John Nemeth and recorded at Electraphonic in Memphis, earned Silver Medals in the Americana and Female Vocalist categories at the Global Music Awards. She now gigs regularly around the Crescent City with her band, whose repertoire mixes her originals with jazz, blues, country, and soul.
