The Iguanas formed in New Orleans in 1984 around singer and guitarist Rod Hodges and keyboardist Joe Cabral, gradually developing a sound that defied easy genre categorization. Drawing on everything from Tex-Mex and conjunto to New Orleans R&B and country, they became one of the city's most distinctive and beloved live acts.
Through the 1990s and 2000s the band built a devoted following in New Orleans and beyond, recording for major labels and touring extensively. Their recordings consistently delivered on the promise of their live shows — adventurous, groove-driven, and full of genuine musical personality.
