Sam Price formed Sam Price & the True Believers in December 2015 as an outlet for his original songwriting and singing. Their self-titled debut EP was named the top roots rock album of 2017 by OffBeat magazine.
A Threadhead Cultural Foundation grant funded the full-length follow-up Dragonfly, produced by Papa Mali; WWOZ notes it was followed by a new release in 2023 produced by Anders Osborne. The band's music is described as relentlessly positive — soul-rock with thoughtful, emotionally honest lyrics: “Our music seeks to inspire, uplift, empower and connect.”
Price keeps a full plate as a working musician: he tours and performs with the very active Honey Island Swamp Band and with OTRA in addition to leading his own combo.
