Biography

Born in Lisbon, Portugal and raised there by Mozambican-heritage parents, Segundo trained as a classical percussionist, earning a timpani and percussion degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. In 2010 he became the house drummer at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London, and he has performed with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, the Chineke! Orchestra at the BBC Proms, Judith Owen, and on Bryan Ferry tours.

Relocating to New Orleans, he debuted with the Louisiana Philharmonic in 2022, holds down weekly gigs at the Pontchartrain Hotel and the Royal Frenchman Hotel, debuted as a bandleader at Snug Harbor with a trio featuring David Torkanowsky on piano, and tore through Tipitina's Zildjian Jam. He has played percussion with Cleary since a December 2023 KNKX studio session, appearing on The Bywater Sessions (2025) and the band's 2025 Ronnie Scott's run.
