Kevin Gullage was born into a musical family in New Orleans and grew up in the orbit of legends — Henry Butler, Carol Fran, Gary Brown — following his father into music as a multi-instrumentalist before the piano claimed him. He studied at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, the Louis Armstrong Jazz Camp, and Loyola University, and by 18 had been chosen as pianist for the 2017 Thelonious Monk All-Star Sextet and shared the Jazz Fest stage with Blues Traveler. In 2022 he appeared on ABC's American Idol, advancing to Hollywood while Lionel Richie told him, "You got so much flavor!"
The Blues Groovers are a band of New Orleans veterans: bassist Tony Gullage (Henry Butler, Dr. John), Hammond B3 player Brandon Adams (Kenny Neal), guitarist Carlton Ross (Glenn David Andrews), saxophonist Roderick Jackson (Kenny Neal), and drummer Mac Carter (Jon Cleary). Together they held a residency at B.B. King's Blues Club in the French Quarter starting in 2019, and their blend of soulful singing and dazzling blues piano has taken them from Disney Cruise Lines to the New Orleans Festival in Innsbruck, Austria, to Bourbon Street Fest in São Paulo, Brazil.
Gullage signed with Grammy-winning Basin Street Records in early 2022, which released the band's first full-length LP, Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed Blues, that summer. An official Hammond artist and an OffBeat Best of the Beat "Best Emerging Artist" nominee, he has also appeared in films including The Last Laugh and Burning Cane, with his voice featured in Disney's 2019 Lady & the Tramp.
