Born into a musical family in Colorado, Gina Leslie grew up barefoot at bluegrass festivals, fiddle camps, and crowded family jams, absorbing a huge swath of American music before she ever wrote a song of her own. She moved to New Orleans and put down roots in the city's Americana scene, where she is known as much for her side-musician work — guitar, banjo, bass, and violin on other people's records — as for her own tender songwriting. Her touring and recording credits include Bella White, Sabine McCalla, and Esther Rose.
Her debut EP, 'No, You're Crying,' released February 11, 2022, is a heartbreak record in the truest sense: the songs were written and partly recorded in the hot attic of a bright yellow house in New Orleans, where Leslie nursed her heart back to health. The Bluegrass Situation premiered 'I See You Everywhere I Go,' the EP's sparsest track, with a ghostly string section by fiddler Alex Hargreaves.
In 2026 she released her debut LP, 'I Love You Always No Matter What Happens' (June 5, on her own Omgina imprint), a ten-song collection recorded with co-producer Nat Smith and mixed by Ross Farbe. Where the EP sat with heartbreak, the LP moves toward acceptance — her official bio calls it 'a guidebook to times of loss, uncertainty and change.' The first single, 'The World Is Changing,' arrived with an official video by Ian McGuire.
This song comes from a small bedroom in a yellow house in New Orleans, where I was nursing my heart back to health after a never-ending ending.
