Andrew Jobin & The Thick Smoke are a New Orleans-based Americana band led by singer and guitarist Andrew Jobin, rounded out by Frank Stewart on guitar and strings, Rob Weston on bass, Stephen Hansel on drums, and Mac Folger on fiddle. The band's sound draws on Americana and folk-rock traditions, with fiddle and strings giving their arrangements a distinct texture on a New Orleans scene more commonly associated with brass and funk.
Since 2024, the band has released a steady stream of recordings, produced by bassist Rob Weston, including the EPs Bon Accord (2022, featuring "Joan Love," "Eden," "Old Aberdeen," and "Someday"), The River Above Our House (2025), and Lost Weekender, which includes the tracks "Piney Woods," "One More Rain," "Lost Weekend," and "Hey Sugar." Jobin has also released solo material recorded in Austin, Texas.
Andrew Jobin & The Thick Smoke have become a regular presence at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and on the city's club circuit, performing alongside acts including Corey Henry & The Treme Funktet and Sporty's Brass Band on New Orleans' busy live music calendar. The band continues to build its catalog and following, bringing a genuinely distinct Americana voice to a city defined by so many other sounds.
